With Wednesday's re-signing of Paul Konerko, the return of their top notch starting rotation and the recent trade for Jim Thome, the Chicago White Sox are a lock for the 2006 World Series. Discuss.
If you're here to see something other than the audio clips of Matt Kolsky, you're in the wrong place...

I submit that Konerko at 12 million per year is NOT overpaid. Supporting point 1: Delgado got a 12 million per year contract last year, and he is not as good. SP2: Richie Sexson and Adrian Beltre make Konerko look like a dollar store purchase. SP3: Jim Thome is making considerably more than Konerko. Thank God the Sox only pay half of it.
On the centerfielder issue, word around the Chicago sports media is that Kenny Williams is not finished dealing. If the roster looks like this at the end of the winter meetings, I would expect to see Scotty Pods starting in center with the young, virile Brian Anderson (yes, this Brian Anderson) in left. I'm not thrilled about that, but he'll hit 9 and we'll have one of the best 1-8's in the AL.
The white sox are clear AL favorites at this point cause they won last year and their team will be more or less the same, except for a slightly degraded defense and possibly a less deep team (thome is a risk for injury)
Can name another team who, at this point, has a complete rotation (pending arbitration signings) and a bullpen? No, nor can you name a complete lineup with their speed and power.
I think that the sox will put up the same kinda year they did last year, small ball and some real power in the middle. Thome, if healthy, will have a great onbase percentage too.
I'm pretty sure the Nationals will be the World Series Champions next year.
I like your spirit, jacob, and I think everybody is rooting for the Nationals, but they're just not super good.
